Besiktas will be hoping to end their eight-game winless run in all competitions when they host Kayserispor at Vodafone Park on Sunday.
Kayserispor are heading into this game sitting 13th, and a victory at the weekend could see them go above their opponents by a point in the Super Lig table.
Besiktas have had a poor start with their defense in the Turkish Super Lig title, with the reigning champions sitting 9th, and they are already 18 points away from current league leaders Trabzonspor.
Their poor start to the season resulted to the dismissal of Sergen Yalcin as head coach following the 5-0 defeat in Champions League against Borussia Dortmund in midweek.
Besiktas are now expected to turn their attention to the domestic football after having exited the European competition. Although their title hopes may have slipped away, they will still want to finish the season in the European places.
They now need to start winning and collecting points if they are to go up the table, after having lost four of their last five league fixtures.
Sunday’s clash will be a good opportunity to gain some confidence, after having gone through two consecutive league defeats at home, and home form will be very important if they are to improve.
Meanwhile, Kayserispor will travel hoping to take advantage of the struggles in besiktas’ squad, especially with the motivation of having registered two successive victories.
They picked up a 4-0 victory in the Turkish Cup, after which they defeated Antalyaspor 2-0 at home last weekend.
Mame Thiamm scored a brace in the starting 17 minutes, before Mario Gavranovic was given a red card and around the 60th minute, Domitrios Kolovestsios was also sent off.
After having gone six away matches without a victory, Kayserispor will be hopeful about chances of winning on Sunday.
