Barcelona will be looking to make it three wins in a row across all competitions when they host Viktoria Plzen at the Camp Nou in their Champions League Group C opener on Wednesday.
Barcelona had a tough La Liga opening day as they registered a 0-0 draw at home against Rayo Vallecano. However, the Catalans have excellently bounced back in their last three matches, winning all while scoring 11 in the process and conceding just once.
They will be looking to carry on the momentum into the Champions League where they will look to go through to the knockout stages, having missed out last season as they finished third behind Bayern Munich and Benfica in Group E.
However, they find themselves in a fascinating Group C with the likes of Bayern and Inter Milan present in the section that has termed the “The Group of Death” this season. Barcelona therefore cannot afford to lose their first tie against the clear underdogs of the group.
Plzen will have a tough time back in the Champions League after missing out since the 2018/2019 season. They are to take on Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Inter Milan in Group C and will take something remarkable for the Czech outfit to advance through this section.
They however their run of European wins this season and their strong start to the domestic campaign should help Plzen’s confidence. They are unbeaten in their last 18 away matches across all competitions, something they will also look to build their confidence on this Wednesday.
