Atalanta vs Venezia Match Analysis and Prediction

Atalanta prepare to host Venezia at the Stadio Atleti Azzuri d’Italia in their round of 16 fixture of the Coppa Italia on Wednesday evening with kickoff at 19:30.

Atalanta have been impressive in the recent campaigns and seem to be on their way to record another impressive campaign this season with club collecting 41 points from their 20 matches which have left in fourth place with eight points off the summit and a match in hand.

They opened the New Year and the second half to the season in a style as the run rampant in Udine where they emphatically edged Udinese 6-2 on the weekend. The win saw them end their two-match winless run that saw them fall 4-1 to Roma before drawing 0-0 with Genoa.

This Wednesday Atalanta will turn their focus to the Coppa Italia where they will be looking to win the title this time around having finished as runners up in two of the last three years, but La Dea have not been good at home lately, managing to claim just wins in their last eight home matches across all competitions.

However, they have won 15 of their last 16 Coppa Italia games at Stadio Atleti Azzuri d’Italia and they trashed their opposition 4-0 in Serie A less than two months ago. Therefore Gian Piero Gasperini will confident that his side can make it to the latter stages and do better this time around.

Meanwhile Venezia endured a difficult welcome back to the Serie A with the side claiming 17 points in 19 matches of the first half of the season. They closed 2021 in a lowly manner going six matches winless in the league, suffering four defeats in the run. They carried the poor form into the New Year as they fell to a 3-0 defeat to AC Milan at home on the weekend.

The poor form has seen them drop down the table and currently sit just a place and four points above the relegation zone. They need to put an end to the poor form if they are to stay up the top-flight.

They will divert their focus to the Coppa Italia where they started in the first round knocking out Frosinone in a penalty shootout following a 1-1 draw at full time. Gli Arancioneroverdi then knocked out Ternana in the second round with a 3-1 win at home to book a place in the third round against Atalanta.

The last time Venezia advanced beyond the third round was back in 1999 against Udinese, though their chances of repeating such a feat on Wednesday, against the In-form Atalanta are seemingly low.
