Arsenal are set to host Leeds United at the Emirates Stadium in the fourth round of the EFL Cup on Tuesday with kickoff at 21:45.
Arsenal made a slow start to their campaign this season, but they head into the Tuesday’s fixture on the back of a seven-match unbeaten run across all competitions as well as are unbeaten in their last five home matches picking up four wins in the run.
Mikel Arteta’s side head into the match on the back of an impressive 3-1 victory against Aston Villa with Mikel playing with slight changes in the formation, which proved to be efficient as the Gunners were dominant in the match especially in the first half where they scored two goals.
Arsenal are now in the ninth spot in the standing with 14 points and will be looking to progress to the quarter finals in the League Cup having started the competition impressively with a 6-0 win over Bournemouth and 3-0 win against AFC Wimbledon in the last round.
The gunners should be confident heading into the match as when playing at home, Arsenal have not lost to Leeds United in their last five encounters as well as have not lost to Leeds in their last nine meetings across all competitions picking up seven wins in the process.
Meanwhile Leeds have been woeful this season as they have just picked up two wins thought the campaign collecting seven points, which have left them in the 17th spot with just three points outside the relegation.
The Whites head into the match on the back of a 1-1 draw against Wolves in the Premier League last Saturday, where Hwang Hee-Chan’s 10th minute goal appeared to be enough to earn the visitors the three points but a 94th penalty converted by Rodrigo saw the sides settle for a share of the spoils.
Marcelo Bielsa’s side should consider themselves lucky to reach this stage in the League cup as they need penalties to overcome Fulham in the last round following the stalemate draw at the Craven Cottage and will hope that their luck carries into the Tuesday’s clash against an in-form Arsenal who last beat them 4-2 at the Emirates.
