Defending champions Ajax search for a record-equalling fifth straight Eredivisie victory when they welcome Cambuur to the Johan Cruyff ArenA on Saturday with kickoff at 5:30 pm.
Ajax, who have yet to drop a point this season, defeated FC Utrecht 2-0 on Sunday. Alfred Schreuder’s men got off to a good start when Steven Berghuis scored in the 10th minute, and Brian Brobbey doubled their lead on the stroke of halftime.
Ajax, who are currently second in the league table, are one of two teams yet to taste defeat. Next is a challenge against an opposition side who have lost six of their last seven encounters with De Godenzonen—including both of last year’s matches.
Ahead of Saturday’s contest, which will take place four days before their Champions League campaign kicks off, Ajax will be keen to earn three points and boost morale ahead of their European adventure.
Cambuur lost 1-0 to AZ Alkmaar in the Cambuur Stadion on Sunday afternoon, having played most of the second half with a man disadvantage.
Consequently, Henk de Jong’s men dropped down to 10th in the standings, but they are only outside the top half by goal difference.
