City rivals AC Milan and Inter Milan go head to head at San Siro in the first leg of their Coppa Italia semi-final on Tuesday night with kickoff at 23:00.
Both AC Milan and Inter Milan needed extra time to knockout their respective opponents in the quarter-finals of the competitions with Milan having to come from behind to make it 1-1 in the regulation time, before Rafael Leao and Alexis Saelemaekers’s sealed the win over Genoa, while Inter also finished 1-1 against Empoli in regulation time with Alexis Sanchez and Andre Ranocchia getting on the target, before Stefano Sensi struck the winner in the extra-time.
After the wins both sides have been struggling with the Rossoneri claiming three wins and three draws from their last six matches and were held to 1-1 draw by Udinese in their previous league match last Friday, while the Nerazzurri have won three of their last seven matches across all competitions and are winless in their last four, picking up two draws and two defeats.
As a result the two have been displaced from the top spot by Napoli , although Milan are level on 57 points with the leaders, while Inter sit in third with two points behind them, but with a match in hand.
Therefore this no doubt a high-stake fixture and will be contested closely with Milan looking to take their revenge having been knockout by Inter in the quarter-finals of the tournament last term. They will draw confidence from their 2-1 win against the Nerazzurri in their previous meeting in Serie A.
