Watford hopes to build on last week’s win at Doncaster Rovers when they travel to Wigan Athletic in the Championship on Saturday afternoon with kickoff at 5 pm.
After winning League One last season, Wigan Athletic have returned to the Championship and are determined to maintain their status as a top-flight side.
Similarly to Rotherham United and fellow promoted side Sunderland, Wigan began life back at this level well, only losing once in their opening eight games.
However, they’ve since declined in form, losing five of their last six matches. That current slip in results has seen the Latics fall to 19th in the league standings; only two points are better off than Coventry City, who occupy 18th place in the table due to their poor early season form.
Watford’s 4-0 home win against Luton last weekend was probably a result many Watford fans expected would be a regular occurrence when they made the step down to the Championship after relegation from England’s top flight last season.
However, life back at this level has not been plain-sailing for the Hornets. They disposed of Rob Edwards after just 10 games and replaced him with Slaven Bilic to jumpstart their promotion push after a faltering opening.

Blackpool Team News
Bilic is expected to name the same starting XI that dismantled Luton Hotspur last time, with Keinan Davis leading a dangerous attack. Jeremy Ngakia (hamstring), Rey Manaj (leg) and Tom Cleverley (leg) remain unavailable for Watford and may not be back in time for any of the games before the World Cup break.
