On Monday, West Bromwich Albion plays host to Blackburn Rovers. They are looking to end a run of three successive defeats in the Championship with kickoff at 11 pm.
The Baggies find themselves outside of the playoffs, as Blackburn have moved into third place after losing their last three games.
While West Brom manager Steve Bruce may have been hoping for a successful start to his tenure with a win over Sheffield United, after the Baggies went down 2-0 at Bramall Lane, it became clear that he had inherited quite the challenge.
In fact, after suffering three 2-0 defeats in a row, extending a run of just one win from nine matches in all competitions, it was becoming clear that Bruce had inherited an uphill battle.
Bruce and his squad have three more promotion rivals to come in succession, but fortunately for them, West Bromwich Albion will only remain in the playoff picture if they can collect points in such games.
While third in the table, Rovers can still threaten the top two, and Tony Mowbray will have qualms about his team’s recent progression. Although Rovers have collected eight points from seven games this season, they’ve lost their last two matches and failed to score in their last three.
