Walsall vs Oldham Athletic Match Analysis and Prediction

Walsall will be looking for a fourth home win in a row when they host Oldham Athletic at the Banks’ Stadium in round 37 of the League Two on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, the visitors head into the game on a four-game winless run and will be looking to end the dry spell and move out of the relegation zone.

Walsall continued their push into the top half of the table as they secured a 1-0 victory over Sutton United at home last Saturday.

In that game, Conor Wilkinson calmly delivered his penalty shortly after the half-hour mark to end the visitors’ three-game winning streak.

They are now unbeaten in each of their four most recent matches, recording two wins and two draws, while losing only once in their last seven since ending a seven-game losing run back in February.

After failing to win any of their four opening home games this year, the Saddlers head into Tuesday’s fixture on a run of three straight wins at home, defeating Tranmere Rovers, Hartlepool United and Sutton United.

Oldham Athletic picked up their second consecutive league defeat as they were beaten 1-0 by Swindon Town last time out.

Prior to that, the Latics saw their seven-game unbeaten run come to an end through a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Carlisle United on March 5.

While they have two games in hand, John Sheridan’s side are currently second last in the league standings with 31 points from 34 games, seven points above Scunthorpe United at the bottom.

With their struggles on the road this season, next up is a tough test going up against an opposing side they have failed to defeat in any of the last three meetings between the sides, losing twice and drawing one since a 2-0 victory back in October 2019.

Hayden White, Emmanuel Monthe, Emmanuel Osadebe, Donervon Daniels and Tyrese Shade are expected to shield Carl Rushworth between the sticks, with Flynn opting for a back five formation.

Captain Joss Labadie, Liam Kinsella and Jack Earing should feature in midfield, while George Miller and Wilkinson will lead the attack on Tuesday.

Oldham Athletic news

Oldham will have to do without the services of Jordan Clarke, who is currently suspended after receiving his marching orders in the game against Swindon Town on Saturday.

Forward Junior Luamba, who has scored two goals in nine appearances this season, is out of contention after suffering a hamstring problem back in February.

Prediction and Odds

Oldham enter the contest with struggles of their own on the road, a record they will be looking to correct by picking up a victory on Tuesday.

However, Walsall have been unbeaten in their last four matches and have won three most recent at home. So we are backing for a home win.
