Denmark will be looking to keep their 100% run in the 2022 World Cup qualifiers when they welcome Austria to Parken Stadium in Copenhagen on Tuesday for the eighth round of group F with kickoff at 21:55.
The Danes have enjoyed a flawless World Cup campaign so far as they have accumulated maximum points from their opening seven games in Group F, scoring 27 goals while they have conceded none.
Kasper Hjulmand’s side had a terrific Euro 2020 that ended in a heartbreak at the hands of England in the semi-finals but the Danes bounced back with superb determination recording four wins in the World Cup qualifiers, which have guaranteed them a top-two finish with three matches left to go.
The hosts are currently on top of Group F standings with 21 points, seven points clear of the second-placed Scotland and will definitely go for the three points in the Tuesday’s clash as their aim to clinch an automatic qualification to Qatar next year.
Meanwhile Austria have had a mixed up World Cup qualifying campaign having won three, drawn one and lost three of their seven games and currently sit in the fourth spot with 10 points, level with Israel who occupy the third spot but with a high goal difference and four behind second-placed Scotland.
Austria also had an excellent Euro 2020 campaign making it to the last 16 where they were eliminated by the eventual champions Italy, in a match that they forced the Italians to win in the extra time with their impressive performance. However, couldn’t project their Euro performances in the World Cup qualifiers and have gone backwards with the dreadful defeats to Israel and Scotland.
Despite bouncing back with a 2-0 win over Faroe Islands Austria will need snookers to challenge Scotland for the second place with only three matches left to go and one of them being against Denmark who have all sorts of confidence.
