Seeking to win their fourth consecutive home match in the Champions League, Sporting Lisbon will play Marseille at the Estadio Jose Alvalade on Wednesday in Group D with kickoff at 10 pm.
Sporting Lisbon made two victories from two in the Portuguese Primeira Liga as they brushed aside Santa Clara 2-1 when the sides squared off at the Estadio de Sao Miguel last Saturday.
Hidemasa Morita struck shortly before the hour-mark to hand Sporting a first-half lead. After Nuno Santos doubled the lead on the 90th-minute mark, substitute Kyosuke Tagawa grabbed a consolation in stoppage time.
Sporting has now picked up five wins, one draw, and lost three of their nine league games to collect 16 points—standing fifth in the Primeira Liga standings with sixth-placed Boavista on 16 points.
Marseille started the weekend with a 2-1 defeat at home to Ajaccio, with Dimitri Payet scoring from the penalty spot after 15 minutes.
Bevic Moutissi Oko then equalized for Marseille five minutes later, but an own goal from Balerdi gave Ajaccio their first win of the season.
Before that, Marseille beat Angers 3-0 on 30 September, ending their two-game winless run in Ligue 1, before they cruised to a 4-1 victory over Sporting Lisbon in the Champions League four days later.

Sporting CP Team News
In goalkeeper Antonio Adan’s absence, Uruguayan international Franco Israel will start for Sporting Lisbon in Wednesday’s clash with Arouca. The former Juventus player will have a back three of Matheus Reis, Goncalo Inacio, and Jeremiah St. Juste in front of him.
Marseille Team News
Marseille will be without defender Sead Kolasinac, who injured his hamstring while on international duty with Bosnia and Herzegovina. French international Jonathan Clauss was forced off with a muscle injury midway through the first half in last week’s game against Sporting Lisbon. Matteo Guendouzi is a doubt after missing the game against Ajaccio at the weekend.
