Sparta Prague has a chance to end off their Group A Europa League clash this week against Brondby. The match is scheduled for Thursday at the Generali Arena, with a kickoff at 8:45 pm.
Sparta Praha vs. Brondby will be huge for both sides: the Czech champions are hoping to boost their chances of finishing third in the group and could still take pole position in the race for third place if they win.
However, only if the Rangers fail to overcome Lyon, who have already won their last eight matches. Brondby is currently sitting bottom of the group but is only two points behind Sparta and remains well-positioned to progress into Europa Conference League with a win.
Sparta Prague’s hopes of reaching the last 32 of the Europa League were ended last month when they suffered a 2-0 defeat against Rangers at Ibrox.
Sparta Prague was eliminated from the Europa League thanks in part to two goals from Alfredo Morelos.
The Colombian striker on loan at Rangers tapped home against his former side to complete the turnaround after Sparta Prague had drawn level a minute before half-time through David Limbersky’s penalty.
A lack of cutting edge has proved costly for Brondby, who have lost all four of their matches in the group so far and will now be looking to their leading striker Andreas Cornelius to get them out of trouble.
