Shakhtar Donetsk vs Real Madrid Match Analysis and Prediction

Real Madrid head into Tuesday’s Champions League encounter with Shakhtar Donetsk looking for a victory that would see them qualify for the knockout round of the competition with two matches to go.

While the hosts are second in the group on four points, one point ahead of third-placed RB Leipzig, the visitors are top of Group F boasting nine points from their opening three games.

Shakhtar put up an impressive performance at Bernabeu last week, but they lost 2-1 to Real Madrid, with first-half goals from Rodrygo and Vinicius Junior eventually proving enough to secure all three points for Los Blancos.

Igor Jovicevic’s side would be vulnerable if they lose this game, byt they could still qualify for the next round of the competition by picking up positive results in the final two matches against Celtic and RB Leipzig.

Shakhtar have not been in action since the contest in Madrid last week, with their last league match taking place on October 1 against Metalist Kharkiv, claiming a 6-1 victory, which left them in second place in the league table.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid head into the contest off the back of a 1-0 victory over Getafe in the league on Saturday, with Eder Militao’s early header proving the difference between the two sides.

That win moved Los Blancos back above Barcelona to the top of La Liga standings, with the two sides set to meet in El Clasico next weekend, but Real will first be focusing on securing their spot in the knockout stage of the Champions League with two games to go.

Carlo Ancelotti’s side kicked off their Group F campaign with a 3-0 victory over Celtic before seeing off RB Leipzig by a 2-0 scoreline at Bernabeu ahead of the 2-1 win over Shakhtar Donetsk last week at home as well.
