Cadiz will be aiming to further boost their La Liga survival hopes when they travel to the Reale Arena to take on Real Sociedad on Thursday.
The hosts are three points ahead of seventh-placed Villarreal and two behind Real Betis in fifth, while Cadiz are currently 16th in the table, three points ahead of 18th-placed Mallorca.
Real Sociedad have collected 56 points from their 35 La Liga matches this season, leaving them in sixth spot in the table, with three matches to play.
The White and Blues have failed to record a win in the league since April 10, claiming just two points from their last four league matches against Real Betis, Barcelona, Rayo Vallecano and Levante.
Real Sociedad suffered a 2-1 defeat to Levante last time out, while they lost 1-0 to Barcelona in their last game in front of their own supporters on April 21.
Imanol Alguacil’s side have won nine, drawn five and lost three of their 17 home league matches this season, but they welcome a Cadiz side who have been solid on their travels.
Meanwhile, Cadiz will head into the contest off the back of a 3-0 win over Elche on May 7, with Alvaro Negredo, Ruben Sobrino and Anthony Lozano all scoring in the final 10 minutes.
Sergio Gonzalez’s side are looking to make it back-to-back seasons at this level of football for the first time since 1993, and they have been solid away from home, claiming 18 points from 17 matches.
The Pirates have the worst home record in La Liga this season, picking up 17 points from 18 matches, and the fact that two of their final three league matches of the season are away from home could be a positive, as they aim to avoid dropping down to the second division.
