Real Madrid will be looking to continue in their winning ways in La Liga when they resume their domestic campaign at home to Girona Sunday evening.
The La Liga champions Real Madrid have made an impressive start to their defence of the league title. Los Blancos are the only side to still remain unbeaten in La Liga this season after 11 games, winning 10 and drawing once in the run.
They currently sit at the top of the La Liga table, three points clear off their close rivals Barcelona in second place. They picked up a comfortable 3-1 home win over Sevilla last time out in the Spanish top flight, extending their winning streak to four in the league.
Carlo Ancelotti’s side will be looking to extend that run and keep their top spot in the title race. But they will have to take things up a notch as they slumped to a 3-2 defeat to Leipzig in the Champions League in the midweek.
Meanwhile, newly-promoted Girona have struggled to cope with the rigors of the top flight, with the Catalans winning just two of their 11 league matches, while drawing three and losing six in the process.
They currently sit 18th in the league standings on nine points, one point adrift of safety and two off Espanyol in 13th. Michel will be desperate for his side to get something out of this fixture as they hope to climb out of the relegation zone. But they face what is probably their toughest league fixture this season and on the road.
