Real Madrid vs Barcelona Match Analysis and Prediction

Real Madrid and Barcelona will trade tackles in the latest edition of the El Clasico this season in La Liga on Sunday night with kickoff at 23:00.

Despite having a fair share of struggles this season, Real Madrid have been by far the standout side in La Liga and they are on their way to clinch another top-flight title this season, as they currently boast a 10-point lead.

Carlo Ancelotti’s side have been on a good run recently, winning all their last five matches across all competitions including the incredible 3-1 victory over PSG in the second leg of their Champions League last-16 tie. The win saw then book a place in the last-eight against champions Chelsea.

In La Liga, Los Blancos have won all their last three matches including the 3-0 victory against Mallorca at away on Monday night, with Vinicius Junior and talisman Karim Benzema getting on the scoresheet. They will be looking to extend the run when they host their main rivals in La Liga on Sunday.

They will be confident heading into the fixture as they boast a fine home run of 14 matches without a defeat, claiming 10 victories in the run. Also recently Madrid have had the upper hand in El Clasico wining in all the last four encounters against the Catalans.

Meanwhile Barcelona have been the most improved side La Liga in 2022 following a poor start to the campaign last year. A run of 12 unbeaten matches in La Liga that includes eight victories and four draws has seen the Catalans rise in the table and they now sit third on 51 points five behind the second placed Sevilla, although they are still some 15 points behind their Sunday hosts.

They head into the match in a brilliant form having gone unbeaten in their last 11 matches across all competitions and re coming off back-to-back victories against Osasuna (4-0) in La Liga and Galatasaray (1-2) in the Europa League.

The win against Galatasaray saw them book a place in the last-eight of the Europa League with a 2-1 win on aggregate while the Osasuna thumping saw them claim their fourth consecutive La Liga victory. They will therefore be looking to extend their winning streak with another positive result on Sunday, which would really be massive for the Xavier’s side.
