Reading and Cardiff City will battle for three points in their Championship Matchday 2 tie at the Madejski Stadium on Saturday evening.
Reading opened their new Championship campaign on the back foot as they fell to a 1-0 away defeat to Blackpool last Saturday.
The defeat reflected their end of last season and their pre-season preparations. They ended last season with three consecutive defeats, while they only managed to win one of their pre-season friendlies.
Collectively, they have now won just one of their last nine matches across all competitions and stretching back to last season, managing two draws and suffering six defeats in the run.
They will now be desperate to turn around their fortunes as they hope for a middle table finish this season having barely survived relegation last term.
They however face a confident Cardiff City, who opened their new Champions campaign positively with a 1-0 win over Norwich City last weekend. The win was a big one Steve Morison’s side, who will be hoping to challenge for play-off spots this season after finishing 18th last term.
The opening day win saw them extend their unbeaten run to seven matches stretching back to last season, while marking their fifth victory in the run. They also gone unbeaten in their last four on the road and will confident to extend the run on Saturday, but will need to play at their best.
