Real Madrid will be looking to make it back-to-back victories in La Liga when they travel to Estadio de Vallecas to take on Rayo Vallecano in a Madrid derby on Saturday night with kickoff at 20:30.
Rayo Vallecano continued their recent poor form in La Liga last time out as they suffered a 2-1 defeat to Elche at away last week Friday with Francisco Garcia opening the scoring for Vallecano in the 52nd minute but late goals from Guido Carrilo and Ezequiel Ponce overturned the match on its head rendering Garcia’s goal a mere consolation.
They have now lost all they last four consecutive matches across all competitions while have lost five of their last five matches, claiming just a narrow win against Mallorca in the Copa Del Rey. The defeat extended their losing streak in La Liga to four-matches and have failed to win in their last six league matches, picking up just a 1-1 draw against Real Betis.
Vallecano have now dropped into 11th spot in the standing with a point outside the top-half and just five above the 16th placed Mallorca. Therefore, Andoni Iraola’s side need to bounce back to winning ways as soon as possible to avoid being dragged into a relegation battle.
Meanwhile Real Madrid have been inconsistent recently with the club looking to secure back-to-victories for the first time since matchday 17 following a 3-0 victory against Alaves in their last outing. All Marco Asensio, Vinicius Junior and Karim Benzema got their name on the score sheet at Real claimed their 17th La Liga win this season.
The win saw them bounce back from their 1-0 defeat to PSG in the first leg of the last-16 of the Champions League, which was following a 0-0 draw against Villarreal in La Liga. The win also saw them increase their league’s lead to six matches following Sevilla’s draw in their last match.
They will be looking to maintain the gap or increase it with another positive result on Saturday and will fancy their chances as they have only lost once to Vallecano in their last 21 meetings, picking up just one draw while claiming 19 victories in the process.
