Fresh from their Europa League final heartbreak in Seville Rangers will need to pick themselves when they face hearts in the Scottish Cup final at Hampden Park on Saturday evening with kickoff at 17:00.
Rangers made history in the European football, getting themselves to final in Spain, but they fell short in a penalty shootout after Aaron Ramsey missed his effort. Rangers also fell short in retaining their Scottish Premiership title as they finished the campaign with four points behind champions Celtic.
They will now look to win the Scottish Cup as consolation, but won’t be enough to lift the spirits of their crestfallen fans. Before the Europa League final defeat the Gers were on a good run of four consecutive wins across all competitions and they have won all their last three encounters against Hearts. They should therefore be confident of claiming silverware here.
Hearts meanwhile made an impressive campaign in the Premiership this season with the side finishing comfortably in third place on 61 points from 38 games. They also did well to reach the final of the Scottish Cup, knocking out Hibernian with a 2-1 victory in the semifinals.
They will now be looking to round up their strong campaign with a Scottish Cup trophy, although they head into the final in a poor form having failed to win their last four games, suffering three consecutive defeats in the run – including the 3-1 loss to Rangers in the final day of the Premiership campaign.
