Udinese vs Napoli Match Analysis & Prediction

Still in the running for European football next season, deposed Serie A champions Napoli travel to Bluenergy Stadium to face relegation-threatened Udinese on Monday night.
Languishing inside Serie A’s bottom three, Udinese could soon relinquish their long-held top-tier status, as a side already deep in danger have picked up just two points from their last six matches.
Occupying 18th position in the table, Udinese recently suffered a bitter blow when losing to Roma, as the teams played out the final few minutes of their previously suspended game – then they could not overcome 10-man Bologna last time out.
Martin Payero’s first-half goal put Udinese within touching distance of an unlikely away win at Stadio Dall’Ara, but they conceded a late equaliser to the fourth-placed side, despite having a one-man advantage.
While Fabio Cannavaro’s side now return to base, only already-relegated Salernitana have secured fewer points in home matches than their meagre tally of 12 this season. So far, they have won just one of 17 league matches as hosts.
While their hosts’ predicament is grim, Napoli have won just one of their last seven Serie A matches, after second-half goals from Mathias Olivera and Victor Osimhen were not quite enough to overcome Roma last week.
Tammy Abraham snatched a late equaliser for the visitors at Stadio Maradona, leaving last year’s champions five points adrift of the final guaranteed spot in UEFA competition for next season.
Battling to defend their title under three different managers, Napoli have put a mere 50 points on the board so far, which is the same number they collected after just the first half of their superb Scudetto-winning campaign.
Following his side’s draw in the Derby del Sole, interim manager Francesco Calzona has won just three of his first 10 league matches, as romours about the possible appointment of Antonio Conte bubble away in the background.
Udinese vs. Napoli Head to head
In the previous 47 meetings between these two teams, Udinese have claimed 10 victories while Napoli have won 24, and they have drawn in 13. Napoli have scored 87 goals and conceded 57 in the process.

Udinese Team News
Udinese are without Florian Thauvin, Sandi Lovric, Lautaro Giannetti, back-up goalkeeper Marco Silvestri and long-term absentee Gerard Deulofeu this weekend.
In addition to their injury woes, the hosts cannot count on either Nehuen Perez or last week’s goalscorer Martin Payero, who must both serve one-game suspensions.

Napoli Team News
As only Piotr Zielinski is set to miss out due to a leg injury, Francesco Calzona can pick from an almost full squad on Monday night.
Sure to start up front, Victor Osimhen could join Zielinski in leaving Naples this summer, but having scored in each of his last five matches against Udinese, the Nigeria striker wil be keen to boost his goal tally.
