North London rivalry continues this weekend on Sunday when Tottenham Hotspur take on Arsenal in a pre-season fixture of the Mind Series at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with kickoff at 16:00.
Tottenham started off their pre-season preparations last month and have already been involved in four friendlies so far with two wins and two draws. They have been looking good under the new management of the former Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Nuno Espirito Santo whose first real challenge was last Wednesday when Tottenham traveled to Stamford Bridge to take on Chelsea for a Mind Serie friendly that ended in a 2-2 draw.
Tottenham were slightly impressive as they came 2-0 behind and leveled the score to 2-2 in the 75th minute. Santo’s side will now head into the Sunday’s match with enough confidence of claiming the win as Santo aim to start the 2021-22 campaign with an unbeaten run in the pre-season at his new club.
Meanwhile Arsenal also started their pre-season preparations last month in Scotland where they opened with a 2-1 defeat to Hibernian before drawing 2-2 with Rangers in their final friendly in Scotland. Thereafter the Gunners tour to USA was cancelled due to Covid-19 and hence stayed at home where they welcomed both Millwall and Watford to their training ground for pre-season friendlies where Arsenal won 4-1 in both fixtures.
However, Arteta’s side fall 2-1 to Chelsea last Sunday at the Emirates with the team showing same mistakes and weakness in the defense they had in Scotland. Arteta now will be looking to boost his side’s confidence ahead of their new campaign win a victory on Sunday a game in which neither side will view as a ‘friendly’.

Spurs will miss the service of Ryan Sessegnon due injuries and might also miss Tottenham’s Premier League opener next weekend. Tanguy Ndombele missed Spur’s clash against Chelsea and hasn’t really played in the pre-season following the bath of his child. Reports about Harry Kane’s future, who might also miss Sunday’s match, have dominated the internet as he is reported to have failed to report for training two days in a row with talk rumbling on in behind the scenes, and he has reportedly extended his tropical holiday despite the club’s frustrations.
Arsenal team news
Arsenal will be without their crucial mid Thomas Partey who sustained an ankle injury in their clash against Chelsea and he is expected to be out for the rest of August. Arsenal will also be without Gabriel Martinelli who is representing Brazil in Tokyo Olympics and Gabriel Magalhaes remains out with a knee injury that kept him out of the Olympics.
