Swansea City and Stoke City meet at the Swansea.com Stadium on Tuesday night, with the two sides looking to bounce back from their defeats last time out.
While the hosts are in 12th place in the standings and seven points adrift of the playoffs, the visitors are 19th, six points above the relegation zone.
Although Russell Martin has endured somewaht of a tough time at Swansea, his side went into Saturday’s meeting with Blackburn Rovers on the back of three wins in seven league matches.
However, suffering a late 1-0 defeat at Ewood Park has put a negative spin on their form, the Swans now having lost three of their four most recent matches.
Swansea’s current form is enough to avoid becoming involved in any kind of a relegation battle, but it will ultimately leave them falling short of their pre-season target.
Martin’s side are also without a clean sheet in seven league matches, although they meet opponents in Stoke City who are hit and miss when it comes to scoring goals.
Stoke City travelled to Blackpool on Saturday in confident mood having picked up seven points from a possible 12, their best form since December.
However, momentum has been lost with a 1-0 defeat against opponents who had been without success in the Championship since the end of October, a period involving 14 matches.
Despite having an FA Cup fifth-round tie with Brighton & Hove Albion on their calender, Stoke are on the cusp of needing to fight for their status in the second tier.
Given the resurgence of the teams below them, Alex Neil’s side are just six points off bottom spot ahead of trying to end a three-game losing streak away from the bet365 Stadium.
