Sunderland vs Watford Match Analysis & Prediction

29/04/2023 5:00 pm

On Saturday, Sunderland will face Watford, knowing that a win would put the team within striking distance of a Championship playoff position.
Watford, however, enters the Stadium of Light already eliminated after dropping four of their previous six games.
Sunderland was just an outside chance to make the playoffs after they dropped four of five games in February and March.
The Black Cats now hold the last spot with two games left, both of which are against teams six points ahead of them after a recent run of three victories and four draws.
Last time out, Tony Mowbray’s team trailed West Bromwich Albion at the break, and a loss would have kept the team outside the top 10.
Although Watford’s lack of consistency has occasionally worked in their favor in the past, that is not the case in their first season back in the second tier.
The decision to fire Rob Edwards, who is currently at third-placed Luton Town, after just 11 games will undoubtedly be regretted by the powers that be, and the Hornets will need to rebuild this summer.
Watford’s third manager this year, Chris Wilder, will not return in 2023–24 after managing the team for just eight points in nine games.
Sunderland vs. Watford Head to head
Both sides have five games against each other with hosts taking one win while visitors with two wins and two draws.

Joao Pedro will switch to a deeper role or the left side if Keinan Davis is likely to return to the Watford assault.
Yaser Asprilla is also a contender, but considering that winning is imperative, Wilder might be hesitant to make too many changes.
