Atletico Paso will welcome Espanyol to Estadio Futbol El Paso for their second-round fixture of the Copa del Rey on Wednesday night.
Paso managed to pass their first test in the Copa del Rey, a competition they are making a debut, after beating Murcia 3-2 on penalties. Now in the second round they face an uphill task as top tier Espanyol come to town on Tuesday night.
Paso are currently struggling in the Segunda Federación, sitting 13th in Group 5. They have won five out of 14 matches, losing eight and drawing one. But coach Jorge Muñoz says his side’s success in the Copa del Rey will boost their league campaign.
Espanyol’s run in the Copa del Rey ended in the round of 16 last season, and they will be looking to extend their run this season. They beat Rincon 3-0 in the competitions opener and will be hoping for the same in this round.
They have had a couple of disappointing warm-ups though, losing 1-0 to Torino, before drawing 1-1 with Mechelen in their two friendlies during the World Cup break. They are facing a fourth tier side though and should be too strong for them.
