Leyton Orient vs Stevenage Match Analysis & Prediction

27/12/2022 3:30 pm

First goes head to head with second in League Two on Tuesday, when Leyton Orient face Stevenage at the Breyer Group Stadium.
The hosts are seven points clear of their opponents after a good start to the season, but the game still serves as an opportunity for the visitors to make up some ground on the league leaders.
Orient look set to return to League One for the first time since 2015, having built up a huge lead at the top of the League Two standings in the first half of the season.
The O’s have the best defensive record in the division, having conceded just 12 goals up to this point, managing to keep clean sheets in five of their last seven league matches.
Confidence could seemingly be higher within the squad, as Leyton Orient have won seven of their last eight League Two matches, including their last four, despite facing some tough opponents, including the likes of Stockport County and Bradford City.
Last time out, Richie Wellens’ side claimed a 2-0 victory at home to Sutton United, with Paul Smyth breaking the deadlock just after the hour mark, before an Alistair Smith own goal put the game to rest.
Meanwhile, Stevenage are the likely team to stop Orient in their tracks, as they are now unbeaten in their last six league matches, most recently securing a point away from home in a goalless draw at Mansfield Town.
That followed a 5-0 home victory over sixth-placed Barrow, with Stevenage displaying that they are a cut above some of the other sides occupying spots in the top seven.
Steve Evans’ side are nine points clear inside the automatic promotion places, with form at the Lamex Stadium proving crucial, having lost there just once all season, with 28 points in 11 matches giving them the best home record in the division.
While the Boro are undoubtedly having a great season, form on their travels has not been quite as good, having not won away in the league since a 1-0 victory over Doncaster Rovers at the end of October.
Leyton Orient vs. Stevenage Head to head
These two teams have previously met on 18 occasions, with Leyton Orient claiming nine victories while Stevenage have won three, and they have drawn in six. Stevenage have scored 13 goals and conceded 26 in the process.
