Feyenoord vs NEC Nijmegen Match Analysis & Prediction

08/02/2023 11:00 pm

Feyenoord will be looking to get back on track when they host NEC Nijmegen in the last-16 tie of the KNVB Beker ahead of the resumption of league action.
The Eredivisie leaders have dropped points in their two most recent matches, and they now face opponents who occupy 10th spot in the league.
Even with Feyenoord sitting at the top of the Eredivisie standings due to their consistency this season, Arne Slot would have had concerns regarding a sliup at some stage.
Feyenoord have drawn four of their last six league matches since resumption, but sharing the spoils with PSV Eindhoven on Sunday felt like a victory by the end of the game.
Traling 2-0 heading into the final 10 minutes, Feyenoord scored twice to salvage a 2-2 draw, Alireza Jahanbakhsh netting both goals to maintain his side’s two-point lead over AZ Alkmaar.
Feyenoord reached this stage of the competition with a victory over PEC Zwole, shaking off conceding an early opener to prevail by a 3-1 scoreline.
NEC progressed through to the last 16 by beating Fortuna Sittard and Almere City, the latter going down as 4-0 in the history books.
That victory was part of a four-game unbeaten run across all competitions, but Roger Meijer’s side have now gone three matches without a win in the Eredivisie.
Losing 2-0 to Feyenoord in this fixture started that run, while they suffered a 1-0 defeat away at Go Ahead Eagles at the weekend.
Meijer’s side have only won one of their last nine matches against Eredivisie opposition away from home, that coming at bottom-placed Cambuur on November 4.
Feyenoord vs. NEC Nijmegen Head to head
In the 49 previous meetings between these two teams, Feyenoord have claimed 34 victories while NEC have won 10, and they have drawn in five. NEC have scored 51 goals and conceded 101 in the process.
