Darvel FC vs Falkirk FC Match Analysis & Prediction

13/02/2023 10:45 pm

Sixth-tier Darvel FC will be looking to continue their fairytale run in the Scottish Cup when they welcome third-tier Falkirk FC to Recreation Park on Monday night.
The hosts secured their spot in the fifth round with a surprise victory over Scottish Premiership side Aberdeen, while the visitors got the better of Alloa Athletic to book their place in the last 16.
Darvel managed to beat Aberdeen 1-0, with Jordan Kirkpatrick scoring the only goal of the game midway through the first half, upsetting the seven-time winners in dramatic fashion.
After beginning their Scottish Cup campaign with an 8-0 trumping of Tynecastle, Darvel claimed a 7-1 victory over Dalbeattie Star before beating Stirling Uiversity on penalties, with a 5-2 victory over Montrose coming in the third round.
The Vale prepared for the visit of Falkirk with a comfortable 5-0 league victory over Irvine Meadow XI last weekend, producing the perfect warm-up performance for Monday’s contest.
Meanwhile, Falkirk have only had to play two matches to reach the fifth round of the Scottish Cup, beating Wick Academy 6-0 before getting the better of Alloa Athletic by a 2-1 scoreline last month.
John McGlynn’s side head into Monday’s contest on a seven-game unbeaten run across all competitions, having secured six straight wins before drawing with Alloa 1-1 in League One, and they have also lost just one of their last 12 matches.
Falkirk reached the 2014-15 Scottish Cup final, although Inverness Caledonian Thistle succeeded that season, preventing the Bairns from lifting the trophy for the first time since 1956-57.
Having last reached the quarter-finals of the Scottish Cup back in 2017-18, McGlynn’s side will be hopeful of making the last eight this season, but Darvel will not go down without a fight.
