Atletico Madrid will look to bounce back to winning ways in La Liga when they take on Elche at the Civitas Metropolitano in there Matchday 15 tie on Thursday night.
Atletico Madrid were not having a smooth run in La Liga just before the World Cup, with the side picking just one point from three games. The run saw Diego Simeone’s side drop down to fifth position in the table, only two points behind third-placed Real Sociedad, but they are 13 points behind leaders Barcelona, with the capital outfit not in a title race this term.
They claimed a 3-1 win over Arenteiro in the Copa del Rey last time out, which will help raise their confidence as they seek to get their campaign back on track.
Meanwhile Elche had a poor showing in La Liga before the World Cup, with the club failing to win any of their 14 league games. They are still looking for their first league win this season, and are currently glued at the bottom of the table on four points, seven points behind 19th-placed Cadiz.
