AFC Bournemouth vs Manchester City Match Analysis & Prediction

25/02/2023 8:30 pm

Manchester City will be looking to bounce back from successive draws when they travel to the Vitality Stadium to take on AFC Bournemouth in the Premier League on Saturday at 20:30 EAT.
Pep Guardiola’s side picked off the Cherries when the two teams met in the reverse fixture back in August, claiming a 4-0 victory at the Etihad Stadium.
Bournemouth saw their nine-game winless come to an end when they claimed a 1-0 victory away at Wolverhampton Wanderers last weekend, securing their first three points since the World Cup break.
The Cherries have now collected five points from their last four Premier League matches and have subsequently climbed out of the relegation zone, sitting one place and one point above West Ham United in 18th.
Gary O’Neil’s side have scored in five of their last eight meetings with Manchester City, which will provide them with some hope of causing an upset on Saturday, but they have never beaten the Citizeens in 17 previous league encounters.
Following a disappointing 1-1 draw away at Nottingham Forest last weekend, Manchester City were forced to play out the same result against RB Leipzig in Germany in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie on Wednesday.
Guardiola’s side have only lost one of their last eight matches across all competitions, but their recent form away from home leaves a little to be desired as they have failed to win five of their last six away matches, conceding in each of their last five in the process.
However, the Citizens will fancy their chances of returning to winning ways against Bournemouth on Saturday as they boast a perfect record in the Premier League against the Cherries, claiming maximum points in all 11 previous meetings, the best win rate in the competition’s history.
AFC Bournemouth vs. Manchester City Head to head
In the 14 previous meetings between these two teams across all competitions, Manchester City have claimed 13 victories while they have drawn once. Bournemouth have scored just seven goals and conceded 38 in the process.
