Poland vs Hungary Match Analysis and Prediction

After confirming a second-place finish in Group I in the World Cup 2020 qualifiers, Poland play host to Hungary. The match schedule is for Monday in Warsaw, with a kickoff at 10:45 pm.

The hosts sit three points behind leaders England in the group. On the other hand, Marco Rossi’s men play for pride on the final day.

Ricard Fernandez’s red card, after just 59 seconds, proved to be very costly for Poland as Paulo Sousa’s men defeated them 3-0.

Poland made light work of Gibraltar on Friday, recording a fourth successive qualifying win. Thanks to Robert Lewandowski’s hat-trick and Kamil Grosicki’s late strike, the Poles made eight Group E victories in nine matches.

Poland kept their slim hopes of top spot alive after Kamil Glik headed in Arkadiusz Milik’s cross just 11 minutes into the second half to victory over fellow qualifiers Ukraine at the Olympic Stadium.

That was not in the script. Hungary head coach Bernd Storck conceded that his side had partly been responsible for their failure after Aleksandar Prijovic became their nemesis by scoring twice, with Szoboszlai Gazdag and Vecsei all failing to find the net when presented with opportunities.

Hungary got World Cup qualification off to a bright start by defeating Norway 1-0 in Budapest and will be out to make it three wins from three against Poland – a country they won 3-2 in their last meeting – and claim the top spot in Group F.
