Both Peterborough United and Reading will be looking to bounce back when they lock horns at the ABAX Stadium in a crucial Championship fixture on Wednesday night with kickoff at 22:45.
Both side have endured difficult campaigns this season with Peterborough recording five wins, five draws and 19 defeats form their 29 matches to collect 20 points which have left them sitting in the relegation zone with two points adrift of safety, while Reading have recorded eight wins, four draws and 18 defeats from 30 matches collecting 22 points which have left them sitting in the 21st spot, one place and two points above the relegation zone.
These campaigns have mainly been brought about by their defensive disabilities this season as both sides have already shipped in 60 goals so far and could lead to a high-scoring encounter on Tuesday.
Both sides head into the match in poor forms with Peterborough winning just one of their last seven matches across all competitions and the win came in the 2-0 against QPR in the fourth round of the FA Cup, meaning that Darren Ferguson’s have not won in their last six Championship matches ans are coming off three consecutive league defeats.
Meanwhile Reading have failed to win their last 10 league matches picking up two draws while suffering eight defeats in the run and are coming off a seven-match losing streak in the division. They last defeat came on the weekend where they fell to a 3-2 loss to Coventry at home with goals from Lucas Joao and Andy Yiadom proving to be mere consolations for the Royals.
Both sides will be therefor be looking to put an end to their poor runs as they aim at salvaging their seasons. Peterborough will be looking to climb out of the relegation zone and leapfrog their Wednesday rivals, while Reading will be pushing to widen the gap between them and the relegation zone and above their hosts to five points, making this a very close encounter.
