Both Northampton and Stockport will be looking to bounce back from their EFL Trophy defeats when they face off at the Sixfields Stadium in their League Two Matchday 11 on Saturday evening.

Northampton suffered a 2-0 home defeat to Cambridge in their midweek ELF Trophy tie, which ended their three-match winning streak in League Two. They have made an impressive campaign in League Two so far this season as they have won six, drawn two and lost one of their nine matches.

Jon Brady’s side now sit third in League Two standings on 20 points, one point behind Barrow in second and five points off Leyton Orient at the summit. A win on Saturday could see them climb into the direct-promotion places and thus, they will be looking to quickly put behind their trophy disappointments and extend their impressive league run.

They have not lost to Stockport in their last three home encounters, winning all three with clean sheets while scoring eight times in return. Therefore they should surely fancy their chances on Saturday.

They have been struggling in League Two this season, having only managed to win twice in their nine fixtures so far while picking up two draws and suffering five defeats in the process. As result they sit 16^th in the league standings on eight points, two points outside the relegation zone.

David Challinor’s side will therefore be desperate to bounce back to winning ways on Saturday as they seek to avoid an early relegation tussle, but they have much to amend before kickoff as they have lost all their four away league matches so far.
