Newport County will be looking to give their promotion bid another boost on Friday, when the host Hartlepool United.
The hosts have climbed back into the top three of the League Two table courtesy of three straight league wins, most recently defeating Carlisle United.
Following a brief dip in form in February that saw their position at the top end of League Two worsen, Newport County have bounced back into the top three in recent weeks, hugely improving their chances of earning automatic promotion through a run of four wins from their last five matches.
The Exiles have recently recorded three straight victories to move back into the automatic promotion places, firstly defeating Bristol Rovers and Stevenage.
They added to that with another three-point haul on Tuesday, picking up a 2-1 win at Carlisle United through goals from Mickey Demetriou and Finn Azaz.
That leaves them third in League Two, although with fourth-placed Tranmere only trailling on goal difference.
Meawhile, Hartlepool will travel on Friday with an aim of returning to winning ways after a brief slip in their campaign.
Having sat in the top half after 32 league games and with an EFL Trophy semi-final meeting with Rotherham United looming, they looked set for an impresive season upon their return to the fourth tier.
Despite a brave effort, Graeme Lee’s side eventually lost out to the League One leaders on a penalty shootout, and they have been unable to bounce back from that, firstly drawing with Leyton Orient before falling to a defeat against Bradford City.
The slight dip in form has seen the Pools drop to 12th spot, and with Bradford now only two points behind, they will be keen to add three points to their tally to keep hold of their position in the top half of the division.
