Fresh off their biggest victory of the domestic campaign, Monaco will turn their attention to the Europa League on Thursday when they welcome Trabzonspor to Stade Louis II.
These two teams are tied for second in their group on three points, having each lost by a single goal to Hungarian champions Ferencvaros.
Monaco have won four consecutive matches and were dynamite out of the gate against Nantes this past weekend, scoring three times before that game reached 30 minutes, as Les Monegasques scored twice in six minutes for just the second time in 35 years and came away with a 4-1 win.
Philippe Clement have sustained a lot of pressure in both of their group-stage matches, winning their opener 1-0 over Red Star Belgrade and conceding a late goal to Ferencvaros on matchday two.
That defeat was only the second time in Monaco’s last eight Europa League matches played at Stade Louis II, while their Belgian coach is now winless in five home games in this competition, losing a group-stage encounter at home for the first time.
Meanwhile, Trabzonspor have been involved in numerous close encounters, and those games seem to be going their way recently, with the Turkish champions winning four of their last five matches across all competitions.
That includes a victory on matchday two, when Abdullah Avci witnessed his side score once in each half to defeat Red Star Belgrade 2-1 after conceding three first-half goals in their opening game where they lost 3-2.
Trabzonspor have faced French opposition six times on the European stage, losing just once in a 3-1 defeat to Toulouse at the 2009-10 Europa League qualifying stage.
However, it has been quite some time since they have earned a point on the road in this tournament, losing six consecutive Europa League away matches heading into this contest.
