Millwall will look to make it back-to-back victories in the Championship on the bounce when they host Preston North End at The Den in a close league fixture on Tuesday night with kickoff at 22:45.
Millwall have made a balanced campaign this season so far with the side recording nine victories, nine draws and nine defeats from their 27 league matches and they currently sit in the 15th spot on 36 points, just three points outside the top half, albeit a game in hand.
They head into the match in high spirits as they head into the match off an impressive 2-0 win against West Bromwich Albion at home last Saturday. The win brought Gary Rowett’s men back on track as their season had started to peter in the recent weeks with the club recording three consecutive defeats against Bristol City, Nottingham Forest and Blackpool.
Rowett will be delighted with his side’s performance in that match as it was a perfect response and the three points saw them stay nine points within the playoff spots, which is something Rowett would like to go for. His side will fancy their chances on Tuesday as they have not lost to their opponents in their last four meetings winning in all with a goal difference of 6-1.
Meanwhile Preston North End sit just two places and one point above their Tuesday hosts having claimed 7 points from their 28 matches. The side was considered black horses this season but they have struggled with consistency and now sit eight points outside the playoffs.
Ryan Rowe’s side were denied a second win on the bounce with the side falling short to Bristol in the first half but managed to salvage a point in second half of the match. However Lowe will regard the 2-2 draw as points dropped in their bid to challenge for the playoffs.
With 18 matches remaining, Preston might feel there is still time to move into close proximity of their target, although they will need to start taking advantage of fixtures such as the Tuesday’s to keep their hopes alive.
