The struggling Millwall Lions host the Blackpool Seagulls in an important match for both teams when they meet at The Den on Saturday with kickoff at 5 pm.
After defeating Cardiff City by two goals to nil at The Den, Millwall suffered defeat against Queens Park Rangers at the same venue.
After a first half where neither side scored, Chris Willock and Stefan Johansen scored in the second half to give QPR their fourth league win in five matches.
Although this result leaves Millwall in 19th place in the Championship and one point above the relegation zone, they have accumulated one point more than last season.
This Saturday’s match against Blackpool will allow them to turn their fortunes around as they have won each of their previous four home meetings against Tangerines, including a 2-1 victory last August.
Blackpool lost 3-0 on Wednesday away at Rotherham United. The Tangerines went behind in the 34th minute when Chiedozie Ogbene scored, before two goals in the final eight minutes saw the home side run out comfortable winners at the New York Stadium.
Michael Appleton could not pinpoint what went wrong for his team after the match, but he expressed his disappointment at his side’s lack of ‘character’ and expected improvements to be made quickly in the coming weeks.
