Fulham will look to make it back-to-back victories in the Championship when they visit the Riverside Stadium to face off with a formidable Middlesbrough side in an important postponed Matchday 30 tie on Wednesday night with kickoff at 21:45.
Middlesbrough put behind their FA Cup disappointments that saw exit the competition in the quarter final following a 2-0 home defeat to Chelsea prior to the International break, with a rampant 4-0 victory against Peterborough at away last weekend in the Championship.
The victory saw them claim back-to-back victories in the second tier, while extending their unbeaten run in the division to three matches in the process. They have now lost one of their last Championship matches claiming three victories in the run.
As a result Middlesbrough have climbed back into the playoff spots as they currently sit fifth in the standings, level on 62 points with the sixth-placed Blackburn and just one point above both Nottingham and Sheffield who sit outside the playoff spot.
Therefore, Boro need to pick another victory on Wednesday to keep their place in the playoffs. Boro have been good at home recently having won nine of their last 10 matches at Riverside across all competitions, with the only blemish coming against a Premier League outfit Chelsea.
However, they face a trick opponent, Fulham, who they last beat at Riverside in 2014. They have drawn two and lost one of the three meetings between at Riverside since then. Fulham have also been also been lethal on their travels having only lost twice in their last 10 on the road matches, with one of the defeats coming against Premier League champions Manchester City.
The Cottagers got their campaign back on track as after the international break as they edged QPR 2-0 at way last Saturday. The win saw them bounce back from their brief slump that saw them draw 1-1 at Barnsley before going down 1-0 at West Bromwich prior to the international break.
They now lead the Championship with eight points in the clear, although they have played a match more than the second-placed Bournemouth. Thy will now be looking to take another step towards the Premier league football next season with another positive result on Wednesday, although they will need to put extra efforts to get something out of Middlesbrough at Riverside.
