Mallorca vs Barcelona Match Analysis and Prediction

Despite being hit by coronavirus, Barcelona will be looking to bounce back to winning ways in La Liga when they travel to Palma on Sunday to face Mallorca.

Barcelona are currently sitting 7th in the table, two points behind fourth-placed Rayo Vallecano, while Mallorca are 15th in the table, five points clear of the relegation zone heading to the next set of fixtures.

Mallorca have recorded four victories, eight draws and six defeats in their 18 La Liga matches this season, collecting 20 points.

The Pirates finished second in the Segunda Division last season, and they will enter this match off the back of a 4-1 defeat to Granada before the winter break, which was their first defeat in any competition since November 22.

They have drawn each of their last four home league games against Sevilla, Elche, Getafe and Celta Vigo, while they are unbeaten at home since the end of September.

Barcelona entered the winter break off the back of a 1-1 draw with second-placed Sevilla, with Ronald Araujo cancelling out Alejandro Gomez’s effort in the 32nd minute.

They have now lost one of their last eight league matches, with a positive run of form leaving them 7th in the table, having collected 28 points from their opening 18 matches.

Xavi’s team are missing out in the title race this season, sitting 18 points behind leaders Real Madrid, but they are only two points behind Rayo Vallecano ahead of the January transfer window, with the arrival of Ferran Torres from Manchester City already confirmed.

Barcelone, who have failed to qualify for the knockout stage of Champions League this season, are unbeaten in their last four league matches on the road, but three of the fixtures have finished level, including their last two away matches against Osasuna and Sevilla.
