Levante will welcome Espanyol to Ciutat de Valencia for their La Liga Matchday 28 tie on Saturday evening with kickoff at 16:00.
Levante were on a fine run of three unbeaten matches in La Liga claiming wins against Atletico Madrid and Elche, and a draw against Celta Vigo. The run gave their survival hopes a boost as it saw them climb to seven point adrift of safety.
However, the run was abruptly ended as they crumbled to 3-1 defeat at Athletic Bilbao last Monday night. They remain at the foot of the table with just 18 points from 27 matches, indicating their struggles this season.
Therefore they need to quickly bounce to winning ways if they are going to get off the bottom of the league and salvage their season. Also they a win on the weekend to boost their confidence ahead of tough fixtures against Osasuna, Villarreal, Barcelona and most crucial one against Granada.
Meanwhile did well to bounce back to winning ways in La Liga since the end of December when they claimed a 2-0 win against Getafe at home last Saturday.
However the Whites and Blues will feel that it has already been a successful season for them so far, with a record of eight wins, eight draws and 11 defeats form 27 matches bringing them 32 points, which is enough for 12th spot in the table. This is impressive for a newly-promoted side, whose main target was to survive the tier.
Last weekend’s win saw them climb eight points above the relegation zone while moving to four points within the ninth-placed Valencia, and they will be looking up the league. Therefore, they will want to make it back-to-back on the bounce as they look to break into the top-half.
They will draw confidence from their fine form against Levante in La Liga having only lost once in their last seven meetings and claimed a 4-3 victory in the reverse fixture earlier this season.
