Leicester City will be looking to bounce back to winning ways when they welcome Newcastle to King Power for a crucial Premier League fixture on Sunday evening with kickoff at 17:00.
Leicester City have been inconsistent this season and have failed to build on their impressive last season with the now sitting in the bottom half and crushed out of the Europa League in the group stage. Many expected the Foxes to build on their last season’s performances and would give another chase for the top four in the Premier League, but that hasn’t been the case for the Foxes who have been struggling for consistency since the start of the season. The club has recorded five wins, four draws and six defeats in their 15 league matches to collect 19 points, which have left them sitting in the 11th spot with eight points behind fourth-placed West Ham.
Brendan Rodgers’ side head into the match in poor form having claimed just two wins from their last six matches across all competitions and are coming off a three-match winless run that includes back-to-back defeats and a draw.
The Foxes first fell 2-1 to Aston Villa in the Premier League last weekend, with the defeat meaning that Leicester have only won one of their last six league matches a run that is responsible for their bottom half drop. They then lost 3-2 to Napoli in the final group match of the Europa League on Thursday night; the defeat was costly for the Foxes who crashed out of the competition in the process.
Therefore, Brendan Rodgers’ side will be looking put an end to their long line of setbacks with a win in the Sunday’s match against a one-win Newcastle.
Indeed, Newcastle finally managed to claim their first win of the campaign last weekend when they beat fellow strugglers Burnley with a 1-0 win thanks to a priceless Callum Wilson’s goal. Up until last weekend the Magpies had collected seven draws and seven defeats and were sitting at the bottom of the table on seven points. They now sit in the 19th spot on 10 points with just three points adrift of safety but are level on point with fellow relegation candidates Burnley and Norwich City.
Following the triumph Newcastle can now have genuine optimism that they can claim maximum points against the struggling Leicester City and will sure look to build on their 4-2 win in their last visit to King Power.
