Arsenal will be looking to extend their winning run to three matches on the bounce when they lock horns with Leeds United who will be seeking to respond to their devastating defeat last time out. The match will be played at Elland Road on Saturday night with kickoff at 20:30.
Leeds has failed to build on their impressive performances last season and have been struggling the season spending more time in the relegation battle. The club has only claimed three win from their 17 league matches while drawing seven and suffering also seven defeats in the process to collect 16 points which have left them in the 16 with just five points above the relegation zone.
They head into the match in a poor run of form as they have only bagged one win from their last nine top flight fixtures and are coming off a crushing 7-0 defeat at the hands of Manchester City last Tuesday, with Kevin de Bruyne starring with two goals while Jack Grealish, Riyad Mahrez, John Stones and Nathan Ake also got to the scoring sheet.
The defeat was the second consecutive defeats for the Whites who lost 3-2 to Chelsea last weekend. However, Marcelo Bielsa’s side put up an impressive fight in that match and they know they ca get something out of arsenal if their put in a performance like they did at Stamford Bridge.
Meanwhile Arsenal still have a long way to go before getting back amongst the Premier League’s elite, but Mikel Arteta appears to have his side moving in the right direction. The Gunners, though, have been on and off in this campaign recording nine wins, two draws and six defeats from their 17 league matches.
However, Arteta’s side are in high spirits as they have won both their last two matches against Southampton and West Ham, keeping clean sheets in the process while finding the net five times. Their impressive win against West Ham in the midweek saw them overtake the Hammers to the fourth spot in the standings.
Therefore, Arsenal will head to Elland Road looking to keep the momentum going as they aim at staying in the top four that they haven’t come close to since October last year. They will fancy they chances as they have not lost Leeds in their last 10 encounters securing eight wins in the run and the last time they met Arsenal emerged victorious with a 2-0 win in the EFL Cup.
