Both Granada and Elche will be looking to bounce back to winning ways when they lock horns at Estadio Nuevo Los Carmenes in their La Liga Matchday 28 fixture on Saturday evening with kickoff at 18:15.
Granada have made a poor La Liga campaign this season and were left empty handed again last weekend when they fell to 3-1 defeat to Valencia at away on Saturday. Granada have now failed to win in their last nine top-flight matches, picking up three draws while suffering six defeats in the process.
As a result Ruben Torrecilla Gonzalez’s side have dropped into the 17th position in the standings with just one point above the bottom three. Torrecilla who was the head coach of Granada’s second team was appointed to take charge of the first team after Robert Moreno was dismissed following the 3-1 loss to Valencia.
He will have his first taste of managing in the top flight this weekend and he will be aware of the task that awaits him of keeping Granada from dropping into the relegation zone. He will hope for a new manager bounce as he looks to get off on the right foot.
Meanwhile Elche were also left empty-handed last weekend as they suffered a 2-1 defeat to a high flying Barcelona who fought from behind claiming the win in the last 30 minutes of the game. Elche have now recorded back-to-back defeats in La Liga, while have only won one of their last four league matches suffering three defeats.
As a result Francisco Javier’s side have dropped into the 14th position in the league table, where they sit just five points above the relegation zone.
Therefore, they are certainly in danger of being pulled into the relegation battle at a vital stage of the season, and another poor result this weekend would leave them looking over their shoulder. Thus they will also be desperate to get the three points in the Saturday’s clash, making this a close affair.
