Getafe vs Athletic bilbao Match Analysis and Prediction

Athletic Bilbao will be seeking to win a La Liga match for the first time since October 23rd when they travel to Coliseum Alfonso Perez on Monday to play Getafe.

They are currently sitted eighth in the table despite a poor run, while Getafe are 19th, having collected 10 points from their first 15 matches of the season.

Getafe finished eighth fifth then eighth in La Liga between 2017 and 2020, but finished last season 15th, and it has been a hard task for them to start the 2021-22 season.

They have recorded two wins, four draws and nine losses from 15 matches, seeing them collect 10 points, and they are just two points adrift safety of 17th position.

Getafe have lost just one of their last five matches in the league, recording two wins in the process, and are heading into Monday’s game off the back of a goalless draw with Mallorca on November 27th.

They participated in the Copa del Rey action on Tuesday and secured their place in the second round of the competition through a 5-1 victory over Mollerussa.

Azulones lost 5-1 away to Athletic Bilbao when the two last had an encounter in January, but their meeting in the previous year ended in a 1-1 draw.

Meanwhile, Athletic Bilbao are heading into the match off the back of a 1-0 loss to Real Madrid on Wednesday, with Karim Benzema being the goalscorer.

That performance at Bernabeu was encouraging, but they have now taken six matches without a victory, with their last victory being at home against Villarreal on October 23rd.

The Lions are just six points adrift sixth-placed Rayo Vallecanoon the same number of matches. They have finished 11th and 10th in their last two La Liga seasons, but were fourth, seventh, fifth and seventh in four straight seasons between 2013 and 2017.

Prediction and Odds

Athletic Bilbao have not defeated Getafe away in the league since January 2016, which is a record to consider here. We expect this match to be a closely contested one, with a  lot of possibities. However, we could see the vistors to come out strong here, and we back them to take the three points.
