FC Midtjylland will welcome Lazio to MCH Arena for their second group round in the Europa League on Thursday night.
Midtjylland opened their EUFA Europa League campaign on the back foot as they suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat at Strum Graz last week. They fell behind early in the encounter and despite the Austrians being reduced to 10-men midway through the second half, failed to find a way back into the tie.
The result saw them extend their struggles this season as they have now won just one of their last nine games in all competitions. They almost followed last week’s defeat with another defeat on the weekend in the Danish Superliga, where they claimed a 1-1 draw against Nordsjaelland thanks to a stoppage time penalty that was converted by Evander.
The Danish outfits have also been struggling at home this season as they lost all their last four matches at MCH Arena, failing to score in the last two. They therefore have much to amend ahead of the Thursday’s clash.
Meanwhile Lazio have a contrasting start to the campaign this season compared to their hosts, as the Serie A side has only lost one of their last seven matches in all competitions.
They opened the Europa League campaign with a 4-2 win over Feyenoord at home and followed that up with a 2-0 home win over Verona in Serie A. Therefore, with things looking for up Lazio at the moment, they should be able have the edge over Midtjylland, who have been struggling in this season.
