Both Everton and Leeds United will be looking to bounce back to winning ways when they look horns at the Goodison Park for in a crucial Premier League on Saturday evening with kickoff at 18:00.
Everton were given a hard reality check last time out as they fell to a disappointing 3-1 defeat to Newcastle United in the midweek. There was never going to be a quick fix for Everton under Frank Lampard even if the Toffees did sell their fans a false sense of hope with their FA Cup thrashing of Brentford earlier this month in his debut match at the helm.
The defeat has the Toffees now edging closer and closer to a relegation scrap as they head into the match down in 16th with now just two points above the drop zone, albeit with games in hand over some of their bottom-five rivals. It also extended their losing streak in the Premier League to an alarming four matches now.
The Merseysiders have now won just one of their last 14 Premier League matches, but four of their five league wins this season came at home and that should give them some sense of confidence heading into the match that they crucially need the three points as another slip-up could potentially leave them in the bottom three.
Meanwhile Leeds United have also had a their good share difficulties this season, but the club head into the match in good mood having collected seven points from the available 12 recently, a run that has seen them increase their gap between themselves and the relegation zone to six points.
The Whites head into the match in good spirits as they are coming off an enthralling 3-3 draw against Aston Villa in their midweek fixture with Daniel James scoring a brace while Diego Llorente grabbed the equalizer. Marcelo Bielsa will be delighted for his side efforts to claim a point as thy had to fight from a 3-1 deficit.
The Argentinian will be hoping for another demonstration of a fighting nature that has been more apparent since the turn of the year to continue on Saturday as they look to edge a struggling Everton as they aim at climbing further away from the drop zone in the process.
Another high-scoring affair could be in store here, as Leeds and Everton played out a 2-2 stalemate at Elland Road in the second week of the 2021-22 season, but the Whites did claim a 1-0 win at Goodison Park last term.
