Real Betis will be looking to make it two wins in a row when they continue their 2021-22 La Liga campaign on Friday away to Espanyol with kickoff at 11 pm.
Manuel Pellegrini’s side will face Espanyol on Wednesday, beating Alaves 4-0 earlier that day. Espanyol will be coming into the contest off the back of a 2-2 draw with Cadiz, played on the same night.
Espanyol appeared to be heading for a 2-1 defeat at Cadiz on Tuesday until Raul de Tomas scored in the 96th minute of the contest, securing a 2-2 draw for the Catalan outfit that sees them remain 11th in the Spanish league with 27 points from 21 matches.
Vicente Moreno’s reigning Segunda Division champions have won seven, drawn six, and lost eight of their 21 league games this term and currently sit 10 points clear of the relegation zone. A surprise relegation is unlikely.
Meanwhile, Betis bring into this contest a 4-0 victory over Alaves on Tuesday night, with Borja Iglesias, Sergio Canales, and Juanmi finding the net.
Even more impressive was the victory’s timing, with Pellegrini’s side having to finish their Copa del Rey last-16 clash with Sevilla on Sunday due to crowd trouble after Canales scored the deciding goal in the 73rd minute.
Real Betis have won 11 of their 21 league matches this season, drawing four and losing six. Their 37 points have left them in third place in the table, four points clear of fifth-placed Real Sociedad.
