Frankfurt and West Ham battle for a place in the final of the Europa leg at Deutsche Bank Park in the second leg of their semi-final tie on Thursday night with kickoff at 22:00.
Frankfurt did well to beat West Ham 2-1 at London Stadium last week. The victory gave them an advantage heading into the second leg and they will be looking to capitalize on that and their home advantage.
However, Die Adler have not been in good form recently having only claimed two victories in their 11 games across all competitions, picking up six draws and three defeats in the run including the 2-0 defeat to Bayer Leverkusen last Monday night.
But the victories came in the Europa League where they beat Barcelona and the Hammers away. This a massive confidence booster for the Germans who have now gone unbeaten in 11 matches in this seasons competition, and extending that further will see them in the final against either RB Leipzig or Rangers.
Meanwhile West Ham were stunned with the unexpected game Frankfurt gave them in the first leg at their own back yard. David Moyes would be disappointed that he and his squad travel to Germany with a monumental task ahead of them.
West Ham head into the match on the back of a 2-1 defeat to Arsenal in the Premier League and have now been officially dropped out of the top-four race as it is mathematically impossible for the Hammers to finish on top of the Gunners who currently sit fourth. With three matches remaining West Ham sit 11 points adrift of the Champions League places.
Therefore, their only chance of making it to the Champions league next season is through winning the Europa League and to do that they must turn things around on Thursday night. they have been poor recently and head into the match having lost four of their last six matches across all competitions with three of the coming in their last three consecutive matches.
Moyes’ men will need to dig deep for this match and they will look to draw confidence from their 3-0 win at Lyon in the last round of the competition.
