Deportivo Alaves vs Sevilla Match Analysis and Prediction

Sevilla will be looking to move to within three points of La Liga leaders Real Madrid when they travel to Estadio de Mendizorroza on Friday to face Alaves.

The hosts are currently 19th in the table, four points behind 17th-placed Granada, while Sevilla occupy the second position, six points adrift of the top.

Alaves find themselves in the relegation battle this season, having collected just 21 points from 26 matches.

They have been present in each of the last six La Liga campaign since winning the Segunda Division in 2015-16, but they could drop back into the second division if their form does not improve in the final months of the season.

El Glorioso have the second-worst away record in La Liga this season, picking up just six points  from 13 matches, but they have collected 15 points at home, winning four and drawing three of their 13 matches.

Jose Luis Mendilibar’s side have not defeated Sevilla in Spain’s top flight since January 2018, a run of eight matches, but they shared points in a 2-2 draw at Estadio Ramon earlier this season.

Their opponents Sevilla remain firmly in the race for the title this season, with a record of 15 wins, 9 draws and two defeats from 26 matches, which has seen them collect 54 points.

Los Nervionenses will be looking to close the gap to Los Blancos to three points with a win on Friday, and the title challangers are actually unbeaten in La Liga since losing 2-1 to Real Madrid at Bernabeu at the end of November.

Head coach Julen Lopetegui’s side cannot afford to take their eye off the ball in La Liga, and they boast the third-best away record in La Liga this season, collecting 21 points from 13 matches, suffering just two defeats in the process.

Deportivo Alaves news

Alaves will be without Mamadou Loum due to a booking he picked up against Getafe, which could allow Pere Pons to feature in the starting XI.

The hosts have no injury concerns ahead of the match, with Joselu likely to lead the line again, while Facundo Pellistri could start on the bench.

Sevilla news

Jules Kounde is back after serving a suspension, while loanee Anthony Martial has return to training after a recent injury and could make the bench on Friday.

Suso will be out for the remainder of the month due to an ankle injury, while Alejandro Gomez and Karim Rekik still remain absent.

Prediction and Odds

With Alaves trying to pull themselves out of the relegation zone to avoid dropping to the second tier, we expect a tightly contested match.

This is a huge fixture for both sides in which either side could ill-afford to lose, but with Sevilla’s quality, we predict a narrow away win or a draw.
