Cambuur play host to Willem II in the round 33 of the 2021-22 Eredivisie season at the Cambuur Stadion on Wednesday.
The hosts head into the contest looking to end an eight-game winless run, while Willem II are seeking to claim back-to-back victories having returned to winning ways last time out.
Cambuur failed to pick up a victory on Friday, as they played out a second consecutive draw following a 1-1 stalemate against RCK Waalwijk.
The Yellow-Blues fell behind to Doke Schmidt’s own goal in the 72nd minute before Milan Smit restored parity in the final minutes of the game.
Henk de Jong’s side have now moved up to 12th place in the Eredivisie table, three points adrift of the last European spot with two games left to play.
Next up for Cambuur is a fixture against an opposing side who they have defeated in just one of the last seven meetings between the teams since 2011.
However, that single win did come in the most recent meeting back in December’s reverse fixture where Wednesday’s hosts picked up a 3-1 victory.
On the other hand, Willem II recorded a second successive win in front of their own supporters, defeating Heracles 2-0 on Sunday.
Kevin Hofland’s side managed to claim all the three points in Tilburg through first-half goals from Wessel Dammers and Jizz Hornkamp.
As a result, Willem II have moved up to 17th place in the league standings, but they remain three points adriff of safety heading into the final week of the campaign. After their trip to Cambuur, they will be taking on Utrecht at home.
Currently having the worst record on the road in the entire division, Wednesday’s visitors must pick up a first win away from home since September to give themselves a fighting chance of avoiding the drop.

Cambuur news
Cambuur will be without Alex Bangura and David Sambissa, who remain sidelined with muscle injuries.
Maxim Gullit also misses out through a knee problem which has seen his fail to feature since late February, while Milan Smit could be handed his first start of the campaign after coming off the bench against Waalwijk.
Willem II news
Che Nunnely missed Willem II’s last fixture due to a knee problem, and the forward is not expected to play any part in Wednesday’s game.
Thijs Oosting and Ringo Meerveld are also unavailable for the visitors, but the latter is likely to return for the season finale against FC Utrecht on Sunday.
Prediction and Odds
Both teams still have something to play for this season with only two matches to play, so we expect a tightly-contested affair in this fixture.
Meanwhile, Cambuur will feel confident having defeated their Wednesday’s visitors last time out, but we have a feeling that the game will end level or an away win.
