Brighton will be looking to put an end to their 12-match winless run in all competitions when they host Brentford at the Amex Stadium on Boxing Day for an important Premier League fixture with kickoff at 23:00.
Brighton made a reasonably positive start to the Premier League but that is now just a distant memory for the Seagulls who will be desperate to put an end to their nosedive down the table, with the club going winless in their last 11 top flight matches drawing in eight while suffering three defeats in the process.
As a result Graham Potter’s side have dropped to the 13th spot in the standing but level on 20 points with Brentford and Crystal Palace in the 12th and 11th respectively. Before the postponement of their trip to Manchester United last weekend, the Seagulls went down 1-0 to Wolverhampton Wanderers without having a shot on target during the second half and thus will be looking to bounce back as they aim at ending their dreadful run.
Meanwhile despite Brentford failing to build on their encouraging start to the season with a four-game losing streak occurring between October 16 and November 6, the Bees have adapted well to life in the Premier League with the club now posting five wins, five draws and six defeats of their 16 top flight fixtures to collect 20 points, which have left them sitting in the 12th spot with just two points outside the top 10.
Thomas Frank’s side head into the match on the back of a 2-1 league success against Watford last weekend, ending their two-match winless run in the top flight. However, the Bees surrendered to a 2-0 defeat at home to Chelsea in the quarter finals of the League Cup.
Brentford as it stands are nine points above the relegation zone and they will be looking to increase the gap between them and the bottom three.
